Free 3D Printing STL Files: Printable 3D Objects to Download
3D Models | 27/01/2026 |
Great news for makers: downloading 3D printable .STL files is now available for every AR Code 3D model experience on the AR Code SaaS.
Until now, AR Code experiences that included a 3D model already offered .glb and .usdz downloads—perfect for web and iOS AR workflows. Starting today, each eligible AR Code experience also lets you download the .STL file, so you can take the same model from augmented reality straight to your 3D printer.
STL downloads now included with AR Code 3D model experiences
If an AR Code experience includes a 3D model, you can now download:
- .GLB (great for web, Android, and real-time 3D)
- .USDZ (ideal for iOS AR / Apple ecosystems)
- .STL (optimized for 3D printing workflows)
That means a single AR experience can now serve both interactive AR viewing and physical fabrication.
Try it now on the AR Code Free Trial
You can test this feature right away using the AR Code Free Trial plan.
On the Free Trial, you can download STL files for the AR Texts you create—making it easy to try the workflow end-to-end:
- Create an AR Text experience
- Access the AR Code Statistics page
- Download the .STL
- Slice and print your model

Conclusion: from AR to real-world prints with STL
With STL downloads now available for AR Code 3D model experiences, you can go beyond viewing models in augmented reality and bring them into the physical world. The STL format is the most widely used standard for 3D printing because it describes a 3D object as a mesh of triangles—simple, lightweight, and compatible with virtually every slicer and 3D printer workflow.
That said, STL files don’t store color, materials, or advanced scene data (unlike .glb or .usdz). For 3D printing, that’s usually a good thing: what matters most is having a clean, watertight mesh with the right scale. Before printing, always check the model’s dimensions, confirm it’s manifold (no holes or non-connected faces), and orient it to reduce supports and improve surface quality.
To 3D print an STL file, the typical process is straightforward:
- Import the STL into a slicer (like Cura, PrusaSlicer, or Bambu Studio) and verify scale and units.
- Choose material and quality settings (layer height, wall count, infill) based on whether you need strength, detail, or speed.
- Orient the model to minimize overhangs and supports; a smart orientation often saves time and improves the final finish.
- Generate supports only when needed and use a brim or raft for better bed adhesion on tricky prints.
- Slice and print, then remove supports and finish the part (sanding, priming, painting) if desired.
For best results, start with reliable baseline settings and adjust gradually. A common “good quality” starting point is a 0.2 mm layer height, 2–3 perimeter walls, and 10–20% infill for decorative parts. For functional parts, increase wall count and infill, and consider stronger materials (PETG, ABS/ASA, Nylon) depending on heat, outdoor exposure, or mechanical stress.
Finally, remember that great prints come from good preparation: keep your bed clean, calibrate first-layer adhesion, and ensure your filament is dry. If a model has thin features, complex overhangs, or small contact points, consider scaling it up slightly or adjusting orientation and supports. With AR Code, you can now explore a model in AR, download the STL, and iterate quickly—making it easier than ever to move from a digital experience to a real, printable object.
