AR Code Object Capture Now Works on All iPhones and iPads No LiDAR Required
Apple ARKit | 02/06/2025 |
We’re thrilled to announce that the latest version of AR Code Object Capture app is now available for all iPhones and iPads, including models without LiDAR sensors. This update opens up powerful 3D scanning and AR creation to millions more users by allowing anyone to generate 3D models and AR QR Codes using just their device’s camera.
Whether you're a student with an iPad, a content creator on an iPhone SE, or a professional using the latest iPhone Pro, AR Code Object Capture adapts to your hardware and lets you build immersive AR experiences in minutes.

No LiDAR? No Problem
Until now, 3D capture on iOS required LiDAR sensors found only on iPhone Pro and iPad Pro models. With this update, any iPhone or iPad running iOS 17 or later can use cloud-based photogrammetry. Just capture a video following our photogrammetry guidelines tutorial, and the app uploads the media to our secure server, where a detailed 3D model is processed and returned—ready to be viewed in AR through an instantly generated QR Code.
This brings high-quality 3D scanning to nearly every Apple device, no additional hardware required.

For users with iPhone Pro or iPad Pro, the app automatically leverages LiDAR to scan and process 3D models directly on the device. LiDAR captures accurate depth and geometry in real-time, delivering faster results with enhanced detail—ideal for professional workflows that require precision and privacy.
Both scanning modes are seamlessly integrated into the app. You’ll get the best performance based on the hardware in your hand.
MacOS & Web-Interface support
AR Code Object Capture is also available for MacBooks with Apple’s M-series chips, running macOS 15 or later. Unlike non-LiDAR iOS devices, the Mac version processes photogrammetry locally, taking full advantage of the M-series chip’s performance and efficiency. This provides a fast, private, and offline option for advanced 3D model creation.
With over 100 million M-series MacBooks now in use, this version gives creators, businesses, and educators powerful desktop tools to build and manage immersive AR experiences.
AR Code Object Capture is also available through our web interface, offering cross-platform access for users who prefer browser-based 3D model creation and AR publishing.

Used Across Industries
AR Code Object Capture is being adopted across a wide range of industries, transforming how professionals create, visualize, and share 3D content. Whether you’re working in culture, commerce, education, or infrastructure, the app simplifies the entire process—from scan to AR experience.

- Cultural Heritage and Museums – Digitize artifacts and monuments. Let audiences explore exhibits from anywhere using AR QR Codes.
- Retail and E-commerce – Offer 3D product previews customers can view in their own space, reducing returns and increasing confidence.

Why AR Code Object Capture?
AR Code Object Capture is built to make 3D scanning and augmented reality accessible to everyone. Whether you're using a phone camera or a professional LiDAR device, the app adapts to your hardware and delivers high-quality results.

On non-LiDAR iPhones and iPads, our secure cloud photogrammetry handles the heavy lifting. For those with Pro models or using a MacBook M-series, scanning is done locally, offering faster performance and enhanced control. Regardless of the platform, every scan generates a shareable AR QR Code viewable on any device: iOS, Android, desktop, or AR/VR headsets.
These codes can be embedded in websites, printed on materials, or shared via social media, making it easy to deliver immersive content anywhere. Whether you're a teacher, architect, marketer, or museum curator, AR Code Object Capture makes 3D and AR part of your everyday workflow.
The Future of AR Creation is in Your Hands

With one app, you can capture real-world objects, transform them into detailed 3D models, and share them instantly through AR QR Codes. No technical background needed. No specialized hardware required.
